Registered Nurse (RN) – Corrections
Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive nursing care within a correctional healthcare setting. The RN will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care while ensuring compliance with facility policies, professional nursing standards, and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive nursing assessments and document findings accurately.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
- Provide direct patient care, including wound care, chronic disease management, and health education.
- Conduct intake screenings and ongoing health evaluations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, mental health professionals, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
- Maintain accurate and timely electronic medical records (EMR).
- Ensure compliance with infection control protocols and safety standards.
- Monitor and manage patients with acute, chronic, and mental health conditions.
- Participate in emergency response situations and provide crisis intervention as needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold patient rights in accordance with healthcare regulations.
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Current BLS certification required; ACLS preferred.
- Minimum of one year of nursing experience preferred.
- Previous correctional, psychiatric, emergency room, medical-surgical, or public health experience is a plus.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and secure environment.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with EMR systems.
- Medication administration and treatment management.
- Emergency response and triage experience.
- Knowledge of correctional healthcare regulations and standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
